CONDITIONS OF FUTURETEX İSTANBUL COMPETITION

I. ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION

A. CONDITIONS FOR CANDIDATES OF THE FUTURETEX İSTANBUL

Candidates participating in the competition must meet the following conditions:

• Not be older than 35 years old as of 01/01/2025. (Those born on or after 01/01/1989.)

• Be enrolled in or graduated from universities, colleges, or other institutions offering education exclusively in design-related fields. The competition is also open to professionals working in the textile industry.

• Not be an employee of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters' Associations (ITKIB) General Secretariat or its affiliated unions, or a first-degree relative of an employee.

• Not have employment or commercial relations with members of the competition jury.

• Not having been among the top three in the Design Competitions organized by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (ITHIB) or other Exporters' Associations in the same year and not having benefited from any financial gain.

• Not having won any financial prize from any competition in the same year.

B. REQUIREMENTS FOR DESIGNS

Designs submitted to the competition must meet the following requirements:

• Each submission should include four different designs that adhere to the competition theme and technical specifications. (Each contestant can participate with a maximum of three different themes using three separate files.)

• Designs must be original, not previously commercialized, not infringing on the intellectual property rights of third parties, and industrially producible and applicable.

C. APPLICATION

• Applications must be submitted by June 30, 2025 (23:59), through the application file created on the website https://www.futuretexistanbul.com.

• Designs must be submitted in PDF or MS PowerPoint format on the website.

• Personal information such as name and address should not be included on the designs, mood boards, and technical details. Personal information of the candidates should be entered during the website application stage. Additionally, a resume file should be uploaded to the system.

• Along with the designs, technical details and mood boards should be included in the application.

II. STAGES OF THE COMPETITION

  1. FIRST EVALUATION

In the preliminary jury evaluation to be held in July 2025, the application files submitted by the candidates online will be evaluated anonymously, and 20 candidates will be selected to proceed to the second evaluation stage. The evaluation results will be announced on the website https://www.futuretexistanbul.com/.

  1. SAMPLE PRODUCTION STAGE FOR THE TOP 20 FINALISTS

 After being accepted for the second evaluation stage by the preliminary jury, the designs of the 20 candidates will be physically produced in sample form in dimensions of 15*15, 17*17, 20*20, 40*40, or 50*50. These samples must be sent to the ITKIB General Secretariat by hand or prepaid courier no later than the close of business in August 2025.

  1. SECOND EVALUATION

The jury will conduct the second evaluation based on the physical samples in August 2025. During the second evaluation, candidates will present their designs to the jury orally. Interviews with candidates can be conducted via teleconference upon request. The jury will select the top 10 finalists after the second evaluation, and the results will be announced on the website on the same day.

  1. PRODUCTION STAGE FOR THE TOP 10 FINALISTS

The designs of the finalists who advance to the final stage will be industrially produced as fabrics with the support of manufacturers determined by ITHIB. These fabrics will be transformed into garments by sector experts designated by ITHIB. Travel and accommodation expenses for finalists to collaborate with the producer during the production stage will be covered by the organization upon request.

  1. FINAL STAGE

The competition final is scheduled to take place in September 2025. The 4 designs of each of the 10 finalists, transformed into garments, will be presented first to the final jury in a private pre-presentation. After the jury's private presentation, the designs will be showcased to the jury and guests in a fashion show on the same day. The designs deemed worthy of awards by the jury will be announced after the fashion show. Travel and accommodation expenses for finalists' arrival and departure to Istanbul on the final day will be covered by ITHIB.

III. PRIZES

  1. FINANCIAL AWARDS

The first-place winner will receive 300,000 TL, the second-place winner will receive 150,000 TL and the third-place winner will receive 100,000 TL (If foreign finalists are among the top 3, the cash prize will be calculated at the exchange and paid in Euros.) Additionally, a special honor award of 60,000 TL will be given to a contestant selected by the jury. The cash prizes will be delivered to the recipients within one month after the announcement of the awards.

  1. SPECIAL AWARDS FOR THE COMPETITION (FOR TURKISH CITIZENS ONLY)

Contestants selected among the top three finalists approved by the Ministry of Trade will be granted the opportunity for overseas education with a 90% attendance and success rate at a training institution determined by ITHIB.

  1. OTHER AWARDS

Top 3 finalists will be offered a 6-month foreign language education opportunity. Additionally, the top 3 designers will be provided with the opportunity to visit a fair determined by ITHIB in 2026, and all finalists will be offered a scholarship for courses at Istanbul Fashion Academy. If an international fair visit is realized, visa expenses for finalists will be covered by the Association, and in case of visa refusal or inability to obtain a visa for any reason, the Association shall not be held responsible.

FUTURTEX İSTANBUL CONTEST COMMON PROVISIONS

  1. PARTICIPANT OBLIGATIONS

Finalists of the competition acknowledge, declare, and undertake in advance that they exclusively own the intellectual property rights, copyrights, trademarks, and license rights of the projects they submitted to the competition, and consent to the use of these projects by ITHIB for promotional purposes, including publication and reproduction, indefinitely and without any conditions or remuneration. Finalists cannot make any requests from ITHIB other than the prizes awarded. Projects published elsewhere or belonging to any person or organization will not be considered for evaluation. Each contestant also declares that the designs submitted to the competition belong to them, have not previously received awards in another competition, have not been exhibited, and have not been used professionally in any way. If proven otherwise, and if the design has received an award, the award will be revoked, and ITHIB shall have the right to recover any damages incurred.

  1. ORGANIZER RESPONSIBILITIES

Competitions under the Futuretex Istanbul brand are organized by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association. Files submitted to ITKIB by the candidates during the application process can be returned to the candidates upon request, and application files not retrieved within 6 months after the final night of the organization may be destroyed by the Association. The garments showcased on the final night will be delivered to the finalists within 1 year.

COMMON PROVISIONS OF FUTURETEX İSTANBUL

I. PARTICIPANT OBLIGATIONS

Finalists undertake, accept, declare, and undertake in advance that all intellectual property rights, copyrights, trademarks, and license rights of the projects they submit to the competition belong solely to themselves, and consent to their use by ITHIB for promotional purposes, including publication and reproduction, indefinitely, without any conditions or remuneration. Finalists who have won awards in the competition cannot make any demands from ITHIB other than the prizes awarded. Projects previously published or belonging to any person or organization will not be evaluated. Furthermore, each contestant declares that the designs submitted to the competition are their own, that the project/ business idea has not previously received an award in another competition, has not been exhibited, and has not been used professionally in any way. They pledge that the project is their own and entirely original, has not participated in another competition before, and has not been used commercially. In the event of the opposite being proven, if the design has received an award, the award will be revoked, and ITHIB reserves the right to recover the damages and losses incurred.

ITHIB reserves the right to make changes it deems necessary in the specified awards, competition calendar, jury members, and all other competition terms and conditions.

II. ORGANIZER OBLIGATIONS

Competitions under the Futuretex Istanbul brand are organized by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association. The files submitted by the applicants to ITHIB during the application process can be returned to the applicants upon their request, and application files that are not retrieved within 6 months from the organization of the final event will be destroyed by the Union. The clothes exhibited on the final night will be delivered to the finalists within 1 year.
