Having broken the historical record of the republic with exports worth 12.9 billion dollars in 2021 and having realized the highest export of textiles and raw materials in its history in 96 of more than 200 countries and regions it exports to, our sector makes an effort to increase its market share on a global scale, to increase exports with added value, and to take the brand perception of the Turkish textile industry to the next level with the innovative textile industry. In this context, Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (ITHIB), the umbrella organization of Turkey's textile and raw materials exports, carries out many projects within the framework of these targets. Among the projects of the sector, the development of the design and innovation perception of the sector takes priority.
In this context, ITHIB carries out projects in order to support young designers, to develop global design perception and perspectives, to create new projects applicable to the sector and to ensure that the project outputs are used in the industry. The Istanbul ITHIB International Fabric Design Contest, which has been held for 15 years by the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters' Association (ITHIB), will continue its activities under the brand name of FUTURETEX ISTANBUL as of 2022. Under the umbrella of the Futuretex Istanbul brand, there are two different contests under the names of FutureBase International and FutureTech.
FUTUREBASE INTERNATIONAL contest is an international contest. The aim of the contest is to increase the design ability of the designers, to enable the designers to follow global trends closely and to develop their perspectives, to enable the contestants to have the "opportunity to learn on the job", thereby increasing the fabric design perception of the Turkish textile industry and responding to the need for qualified designers.
